RE: Rohingya Communities
The modern world has pledged that it will stand in front of tyrants whenever there will be a danger of oppression, a fear of human massacre and removal of people from their homes based on their ethnicity or faith. The United Nations is supposed to be the organisation which acts when there is a need to do so. However, it is our sad observation that they fail to act or are very slow to respond when there is a need to do so.
At present, we see that Rohingya communities in Myanmar (Burma) have been persecuted for many years. The situation is very distressing and painful at present. There is severe killing of the young, the elderly and women and children taking place. It has been made difficult for the Rohingya’s community to live. The people who manage to escape the massacre are left floating in the sea and eventually die. The response of the neighbouring governments is also very negative. In light of this situation, we ask the Myanmar Government to stop this killing immediately. We also ask our Government and the United Nations to take immediate action and play an active role to stop the suffering of innocent and helpless Rohingya’s. It appears that this is another shameful act happening in front of the world and most of the World appears to be spectating: As Desmond Tutu stated ‘if you remain neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor’.
