The project will host a number of events over the period of its life to encourage Fathers and Male carers to enjoy and engage in developmental interaction with their children. The services offered at the Children’s Centre will also be available to the parents and carers. The events will specifically be aimed at encouraging the attendees to discuss specific issues around education, health, and educational courses for Adults.
Aims of Lancashire Council of Mosques
To develop fathers as individuals, allowing them to play a more active role in the early development of their children using the resources available to them through the local community.
Objectives of Lancashire Council of Mosques
HOLD EVENTS: creating community cohesion and communication
CREATE AWARENESS: increase awareness of child related issues, and allow fathers to freely discuss the issues facing them, then to address these issues and find probable and feasible solutions.
FORM GROUPS: fathers are to be encouraged to form their own groups to tackle problem issues, and furthermore to find their own solutions…Self Help.
ENCOURAGE COMMUNICATION WITHIN THE COMMUNITY: maintain the groups and continue their facilitation so that the local fathers in the area can network with other organisations and access services for themselves and their families.
Progress to date
The project has now refocused itself to aid centres to engage fathers directly.
